Bone Grafting

Bone Grafting

Following the loss of a tooth, the surrounding bone will gradually be resorbed.  The bone may already be thin for reasons such as, infection or trauma.  For successful long term dental implant treatment, it is important the implant is surrounded by strong and healthy bone.  It is for these reasons that bone grafting is often required in successful dental implant treatment.

Fortunately, bone grafting for dental implant treatment has evolved significantly over the years, can be relatively simple to perform and is often completed on the same appointment as the implant placement.

Options include using the patients bone, other human bone, animal bone or synthetic bone.  We prefer to use synthetic bone where possible.
